Fairway Laboratories Inc. has been providing quality environmental laboratory services for more than 30 years. Incorporated on July 12, 1977 to fill the need for a local, affordable wet chemistry laboratory, Fairway quickly established a high standard of reliability and accuracy within the industry.
Fairway Laboratories, Inc. has grown to meet the changing needs of its clients and the environmental landscape. Our current growth and focus revolves around the Marcellus Shale industry. In our early years the focus was servicing municipalities and clients who needed testing to satisfy regulatory requirements, such as discharge permits. Throughout the years, we have continued to maintain a strong base of diverse clients.
Analytical capabilities expanded to serve changing client needs. We evolved from wet chemistry analysis by adding organics, inorganics, metals and certain gases over the years. All possible due to steady growth in clients, employees and instrumentation.
The facility has expanded from the original 1,700-square-foot building on Fairway Dr. in Altoona, PA to a 5,000-square-foot facility constructed in 1999 on Ninth Avenue in Altoona. An 800-square-foot volatiles lab was added to the Ninth Avenue site in 2010; and an administration building was added in Altoona in 2012.
Fairway Laboratories is currently under the direction of Michael P. Tyler, Laboratory Director/Owner. He is assisted by Laboratory Managers Michelle Fye and Ryan Riggle, as well as more than 70 employees, including Janet Eastep, Ron Bollman and Bryan Gartland who have over 70 years combined experience in a variety of analytical areas. Approximately 90% of our lab staff hold advanced degrees in science.
Fairway Laboratories’ commitment to quality is company-wide. Each scientist, technician, and support staff member is dedicated to providing quality data and service in a timely manner. Our objectives are fundamental to environmental science.
We use our Quality Assurance Manual as a guide to ensure all quality assurance/quality control procedures and documentation requirements are met. Our laboratory information management system allows us to provide accurate, reliable results in a variety of formats to better meet the needs of our clients.
We currently hold drinking water certification in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia, and we are certified under the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) in the drinking water, wastewater and solid categories.
We continually strive to enhance our quality systems and processes without compromising the health or safety of our employees.
Using EPA, NELAP and OSHA guidelines, we continually adopt new procedures that improve the quality of our data and the services we offer.
